Can I visit the Victoria Falls Rain Forest on my own or do I need a guided tour?

Which side is better: Zimbabwe or Zambia?

How much time do I need?

What are the entry fees?

Had it not been for the publicity in Europe by Dr David Livingstone who visited the Falls in November 1855 and named them after the then Queen Victoria, we wonder if this small town had ever become the adventure capital of Southern Africa it is today. The local people who inhabited the river up and downstream called this place Mosi-oa-Tunya (Kololo tribe) and Chinotimba (Nyamba tribe), all referring to the thundering sound caused by the falling sheet of water.

Victoria Falls is a sharp drop - geographers call it a 'nick point' - (108 meter deep, 1708 meter wide) carved out of the basalt rock by the eroding powers of the Zambezi River, Africa's fourth longest river half way on its 2,700 km journey to the Indian Ocean. Have a look at our link page for more in-depth information on waterfalls.

The Falls, the river, the bridge, the National Parks, today 50,000 people on both sides of the river depend on the tourists that visit Victoria Falls from all over the world. If you have three nights to spend you can truly cross path with nature, apart from walking along one of the world's most spectacular waterfall you can: ride an elephant through the African bush, cruise, canoe and raft white water, fly in all sorts of machines over the Falls, throw yourself down the bridge and gorges connected to rubber cords and wires only, walk with the lions, go for game drives, and of course sleep and eat in hotels, lodges, B&B's and guesthouses that suit your budget. Local operators will take care of you as they do for 'their' environment.

Have a look what is on offer, the adventure starts right here, all a few minutes down the road from Amadeus Garden. Should you not be a B&B dweller and prefer to stay at a hotel in Victoria Falls or the Victoria Falls Safari Lodge we do hotel reservations as well and provide our personal guiding and travel services.
